About the Company
Established by the Arab Bank in 1978, The Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation (AHSF) is anon-profit organization dedicated to investing in cultural and social innovation to positively impact the communities we work in through thought leadership, literature and arts and employment and innovation.
The Abdul Hameed Shoman Awards:
Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers was launched in 1982 to promote Arab scientific research and provide incentives to upcoming generations of Arab scientists.
Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Children’s Literature, launched in 2006, and is given to works that are dedicated to enhance the quality and creativity of children’s literature.
Abdul Hameed Shoman Fund for Scientific Research was established in 1999 to support scientific research and its promotion in Jordanian universities, scientific institutions and centers.

Our Services and Programs:
- Abdul Hameed Shoman Cultural Forum was established in 1986 to give due attention to the wider public and provide a free platform for renowned though leaders; scientists, thinkers, educators and innovators to debate their ideas through Monday weekly assembly a 6:30 pm
- The Cinema Program, formed by renowned Jordanian critics in 1989, presents a range of thoroughly chosen world movies from the classics to the modern and experimental film genres in weekly screenings at the Foundation’s Cinema Hall in addition various film weeks.

Abdul Hameed Shoman Musical Evenings, launched in 2014, aims to provide a platform for Jordanian artists to perform, shed light on diverse musical talents in Jordan and the region and introduce world class musical genres to the Jordanian public.
Every last Thursday of each month AHSF hosts a free public musical performance at 7:30 pm by up and rising young musicians.
Abdul Hameed Shoman Public Library was established in 1986 as the first well-equipped and fully computerized public library in Jordan. The Library helped establish 13 libraries around the Kingdom. In 2013, the library released The Expanded Thesaurus (Maknaz)’s second edition in its web based version in cooperation with Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and Juma Al Majid Heritage and Culture Center. The Expanded Thesaurus (Maknaz) is the largest Arabic trilingual thesaurus that covers all fields of knowledge.
Knowledge PathLibrary for Children and Youth, was launched in 2013 as an active open space for children of all ages and backgrounds to meet, discover and explore through reading, storytelling and creative activities that inspire innovative thinking.
